Helpful Advice:
What to bring? Bring your favorite fashion magazines and catalogues. You will create an inspiration board. Bring also a calendar and your contact information to exchange with new friends.
What to wear? The dress code is business casual. Your instructor will not be wearing jeans, however, she will not wear business suits every day either.
What to do to prepare? You don't have to read anything, but going through this website is a good idea so that you know more about the program. You may also visit www.marysheehanwarren.com for information on your instructor. (In Washington DC, see www.yourbeststyle.com.). There are many resources on these sites.
IMPORTANT: Unless your organization or coordinator has told you otherwise, you need to find a client for you practicum on the Saturday of this training. Ask a friend or relative. Tell her to come to the training location a little before 1:30. She should be prepared to stay until 3:30 so she can learn all about her...
body type and strategies for creating an optical illusion of proportion
fashion personality and great shopping suggestions
absolutely best colors to wear
wardrobe coordination and accessorizing
and maybe even a bit about the good things happening in the next fashion season
Ask her to bring 5-6 randomly selected items (a mix of tops, bottoms, and dresses) so that you can re-create a tiny bit of the "closet scene."
Other Surprises? No, not really. But you should know that you will be carrying a lot of extra stuff home like: A large binder filled with two texts and forms; Color analysis drapes; a hand mirror; a tape measure; and a pencil case of supplies. You might want to bring along a bag for the commutes.
As you scramble to get out the door for this training, just try to consider the last time you got together with other women to discuss FASHION! (It's been a long time, hasn't it? ...maybe never?)
